COVID-19 — OUR JOURNEY
March 2021 marks the one-year anniversary in our battle with COVID-19. These months have seen all of us through our most difficult, yet our most resilient moments. We here at Heritage Care of Elizabeth City understand the stress and the worry you feel about the safety of your loved ones in our care. Since the very beginning of the pandemic, we have been focused every day on educating and orienting ourselves according to the safety protocols and guidance given by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS).
With the knowledge that COVID-19 spreads from human contact and airborne pathogens, we have dedicated much of our time to retraining our staff according to the directions given to us from health experts. Our staff have exceeded all expectations in these tough times; they have adapted to the new (and sometimes confusing) guidelines while maintaining the same level of care and quality expected in our home. From following social distancing guidelines along with regular mask-wearing and hand-washing, to regularly disinfecting all surfaces, to providing companionship and care to your loved ones, our staff are the true heroes of this time.
Not only have we relied on our staff to maintain a clean and healthy space for our residents, we have researched the latest technological advances in the realm of health and safety, specifically in regards to fighting against the virus. Our research led us to an air purification system and a disinfecting system that are both recommended by the CDC for their effectiveness against SARS-COV-2 along with many other harmful bacteria that can linger.
We use the Purashield 500, an air purification system designed by Purafil that filters out toxic contaminants from the air. The purifier removes up to 99.46% of solutions containing SARS-COV-2, along with other harmful contaminants like E. Coli and H1N1. We utilize the purifiers at our facility to filter areas of our residential community, such as main sitting rooms, dining rooms, etc. To ensure that all common areas are clean and free from the virus, we use an Electrostatic Disinfectant Sprayer from Victory Innovations that is designed to evenly coat multi-touch surfaces and clean the hard-to-reach places.
As time goes on, you can trust that we will remain vigilant in the care and keeping of your loved ones. We will continue to monitor and follow guidance from the experts at the CDC and NCDHHS, doing our best to stay on top of any developments.
